What do you need to get started?
If you’ve just bought a Carrera Digital 132 or 124 track, you’re almost ready to go. To measure lap times and race right from the start — and to stay motivated to race on your track over the long term — you’ll need two things: the AppConnect Bluetooth adapter for your control unit and SmartRace for Carrera Digital, the #1 app for timing and lap counting.

Must have! I started racing not to long ago and I love this app! I bought all the features/add ons and it is amazing! If you are thinking about getting into slot cars definitely spend the couple of bucks to get this app!
I like the layout of the app. I mean if your going to pay for something then it might as well look decent. I like all of the cool features and the inventory of cars and drivers and tracks to keep things organized. Very smooth driver displays and I’m sure there is many more wonderful features to come!

It’s a great addition to the carrera slot car set. This is the app the company should have put out. The developer responds and rectifies your concern with quick turnaround period. Cannot say enough good things about this app and the developer.
I wish it had the countdown voice like the Carrera app. I’m a brand new user and the app is asking me to rate it a little too soon. Give users more time to use the app before asking to rate it 🙂 EDIT: Change to 5 stars because the developer is totally on top of this app! EDIT: HUGE UPDATE TO APP! I submitted several ideas and all but 1 was implemented! This rating system needs more stars! Great Work!

Questions and Answers for Beginners
Yes. The only requirement is the Carrera Control Unit in combination with an AppConnect adapter. SmartRace does not work with the older Carrera Black Box.
Simply plug the adapter into the PC Unit port on your Control Unit. When you turn on the Control Unit, the blue LED on the AppConnect adapter will flash. When plugging it in, be careful not to bend any of the pins on the adapter.
The app costs just under €11 as a one-time purchase. That gives you everything you need for exciting races, and it’s definitely more than enough to get you started. If you want more, you can subscribe to the SmartRace Champions Club for a low monthly or annual fee.
No. SmartRace displays everything these devices show — and, of course, much more. You’re better off investing the money you save in more cars. 🙂

Carrera has discontinued its official app for Carrera Digital 132/124, called the Carrera Race App. Carrera itself recommends using third-party apps. You can read more about this here.
You’ll need a smartphone or tablet running at least iOS 13 or Android 8, or a Mac running macOS 13 or later. We recommend using a tablet, since playing on a larger screen is much more comfortable and more fun. However, SmartRace also works just fine on smartphones.
