Set up check lanes for sector measurement (Carrera Control Unit)

In order to use the check lanes for sector measurement correctly, the individual sector sections must first be defined. These instructions show you step by step how to set up sector time measurement on the Carrera Control Unit.

Before you start, please ensure:

  • Firmware version 5336 or higher is installed on the control unit.
  • The check lanes (up to two) are already permanently installed in the racetrack.
  • The control unit is switched off.

Configuring sectors with check lanes – step-by-step instructions

  1. Turn off the control unit
  2. Press and hold the SPEED button on the Control Unit
  3. Now switch the control unit back on while continuing to hold down the SPEED button.
  4. The first LED stays lit. Now you can release the SPEED button.
  5. Press the SPEED button repeatedly to switch between LEDs 1 to 4

Meaning of the LED combinations

Select the desired function using the illuminated LEDs:

  • LED 1 → Time recording deactivated
  • LED 1 + 2 → Time recording activated
  • LED 1 + 2 + 3 → Sector time 1
  • LED 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 → Sector time 2

Apply and save settings

  • To save the selected option, drive or push a car over the sensor of the respective check lane.
  • An acoustic signal confirms that the setting has been successfully accepted.
  • Repeat this process for each individual check lane that you want to use as a measuring point.
  • Once all check lane measuring points have been defined, press the START button on the Control Unit to exit the settings mode.

Important information about sector time measurement

  • When time recording is activated, the start/finish line automatically functions as a sector point. No additional configuration is required on the control unit.
  • The lap counting function of the control unit must not be deactivated, otherwise time measurement will not be accurate.
