Automatic damages if an adjustable lap time is exceeded
If you don’t like penalties so much or want to spice up races without imposing penalties, you can use the damage module. The damage module is designed to penalize drivers for slow lap times. Slow lap times can occur, for example, if a driver flies off the track and has to get his car back on the track.
Damage essentially works as follows:
- The driver exceeds the set lap time – SmartRace inflicts random damage on him, i.e. there is a voice output and a damage symbol on the race screen next to the position number.
- If the driver does not repair the damage within the configured time (i.e. pull into the pits and wait until the damage symbol disappears), he is automatically classified as DNF (did not finish).
- If he comes into the pits and has the damage repaired, he can then continue driving normally.
- If he does not have the damage repaired before the end of the race, he will also be classified as a DNF.
Damage can be activated via the “New race” dialog. If you activate damage by setting the toggle switch, you must also set up the following options.
Configuration
- Required pit stop duration (seconds) – how long it should take for damage to be repaired in the pit lane.
- Damage that has not been repaired: Retirement Time – if a driver suffers damage, he can continue driving for as many seconds until he retires from the race.
